Coats for the Cold is a grassroots community movement that provides new coats for those who cannot afford them. The goal of the project is to give people – many of whom gave never had a truly “new” coat in their lives – the dignity and respect of having a brand new coat to keep them warm in the winter months. As local people we have the opportunity to help other local people, by providing them with one of their basic needs.
This year, schools, businesses and youth groups came together in Eureka and were able to purchase over 200 coats for those in need.
We are already looking ahead to next year. Our hope is for 1,000 coats to be saved up and handed out in the coming year.
